Hot, hot, HOT!

37°C in the shade??
Today we could break a record.
The high could get up to 38°C today.
With the humidity it will feel more like 48°C.
I took the day off work and am lazing about trying to stay cool.
Our last good rain was on June 24th and we have had 2 weeks of hot and humid weather.
It is truly amazing that there is ANYTHING left blooming!
The Ditch Lily's are blooming happily
The Echinacea hardly seems bothered with the heat
This hidden Dahlia insists it's time to bloom
'Pink Double Delight'

The first sunflower bloom- compliments of the birds. I haven't ever planted sunflowers yet every year I have them blooming in the gardens.
Another plant I don't have to think about planting - I haven't planted Nigella in years.
I really like them so I'm glad the re-seed so readily
. 'Midas Touch' is still blooming
This Queen of the Prairie- I didn't want to plant it out in the dry conditions so I left it in the pot where it is happily blooming.
My favorite Hosta Ventricosa blooms, droopy but still going strong
Stay cool everyone!

  1. The plants are quite hardy aren't they, surviving in this extreme heat we are having. It's been an inside day for sure.

  4. Fabulous blooms! They really are terrific plants to withstand such conditions. Over here we experience these hot conditions during our summers, although the daily temperatures are usually between 31 and 35 ... that includes night-times as well. I certainly know how horrid it can be, especially with high humidity levels thrown in the mix as well.

  7. Netty, I hope you have had a break from the hot weather. We're still hot enough here, but it has gone down a little bit. I love all the flowers you're flaunting this week. The dahlia is such a stunning color, and how funny about the sunflowers just popping up here and there!

  8. My veggies are shameful, yours terrific. Your ornamentals are amazing, too. I'm still figuring out the garden, leaving hubby alone with it for a week with I vacation with kid/grandkids. I sit in trepidation!
Thanks for visiting my Giant Hogweed post. They are miserable things, mind you, I've been dinged by my poison ivy twice now. You'd think I'd learn??!!
