Monarda aka Bee Balm

I love this stuff!
Some people complain that it is invasive.
I don't have that problem in my zone 5 garden.
In fact, it seems to be getting pushed out by a few other garden thugs
It is not just beautiful, but deer resistant, bunny resistant and the hummingbirds and butterflies love it.
It is low maintenance and drought tolerant

This pink one is from a friends garden
Do you think they would notice it missing?   ;)

  1. I am going to have to take another look at Monarda. We're in Z4-5 here and I always avoided the plant because I had heard of its tendency to be invasive. I love the way it looks in your garden! I guess I was leery because I already have issues with a few plants I wish I'd never seen, so I steered clear. I think it's time to become adventurous (love the neighbor's pink one, too.)
