I don't remember planting that!

Have you ever taken a moment to look at the plants in your garden and think about where they came from? Some plants come from friends, or family members. Some are family heirlooms passed down for generations. Others are purchased at garden centers and plant sales.
Then, there are the ones that just 'appear' in the garden one day, and re-seed themselves for years to come. I have many that arrived in my garden this way!
Take for instance this patch of 'Victoria Blue' Salvia.
I planted that this spring.
BUT, the red salvia growing behind must be a volunteer from previous years
A big culprit is spreading seed is my compost pile.
I have tomatoes growing in my new bed that I did not plant either!
There seems to be 2 varieties ... an heirloom with potato plant leaves and a Roma.
I have never grown either type in my gardens!
Lady's Mantle seems to pop up all over the gardens too
This one is about to bloom!
Poppy's are great self sowers too
Nicandra was only planted once, a long time ago.
 Rose Campion self sows freely
The birds like to plant things too
10 years ago I planted 1 Rudbeckia Triloba.
They are a native and I love their cheery little blooms. I don't mind that they dominate my late summer and fall gardens
What do YOU have in your garden you don't remember planting?

Fertilizer Friday already?

Wow, this week sure flew by!
Time to share some blooms with Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday!
Waiting patiently for some rain, but things are still looking OK.
The first of the Glad's are opening.
Found these late Poppies blooming side by side.

Not sure why I haven't planted this annual Vinca before, but I think that I will always have some in my gardens from now on!
How could I forget to add a picture of my favorite new Zinna bloom?
My Texas Red Salvia is late this year, but finally starting to bloom
The veggie garden is doing well too. I have lots to harvest almost every day!
The Phlox is starting to bloom too, and the blooms are HUGE this year!
Another shot of the back...it's so colorful right now!
I saved this little cutie for last.
He's not a bloom, but he is a sweet little guy.
Have a great week all :)

Fertilizer Friday - August 16th

It's been a while, but I can finally have time to flaunt!
August already and the air already feels fallish. I snuck in a little garden expansion without my Hubby catching on. I kind of HAD to ... I had a few perennials sitting around in pots and no room left to plant them  :)
Still need to fiddle with the shape a little
Found this freak of nature on my Sedum in this bed
The Lavetera is filling in nicely. I really missed this plant in my gardens last year.
Found this lone white bloom - nice surprise!

'Herbstsonne'
A suprise Mallow
'Scentemental' still blooming
Marigolds and Salvia
A few of the gardens
