Trail Camera

The trail camera has been put to use down at the front of the property.
I had hopes that I would catch the Buck that used to travel the path down here and rub up on the young trees. So far, no luck.
I have, however, snapped photos of a lot of CATS.
I'm not sure who they belong to ... the small tabby belongs to the barn next door.
There is a beautiful Manx too.
Another cutie, not sure where it comes from either.
A cottontail

And Jack is back!
Still no sign of that buck, but the others had better watch out!
Mr Coyote is on your trail!

A few from the trail camera

The trail camera really didn't get too much action this year.
I carried it back home in the spring when the grass grew too tall and the poison ivy was flourishing.
I put it up down at the front of the property where there seemed to be a trail.
Here are a few of the creatures that were snapped.
1:02pm these guys are brave!
These 2 must be regular visitors
And on the way home
This last one surprised me a little.
I had no idea what kind of bird it was. Did a little research and discovered it was a young, female, ring necked Pheasant. I have never seen one around here but there must be a few.
You never know what will get snapped :)

Sad results from the trail camera this year

We only got ONE photo from our trail camera this year
I had better luck getting deer photos last week at work!
On my lunch hour I decided to sit out behind the buildings near the woods.
I heard something sneaking up on me
Do you see it peeking thru the trees at me?
Then another one snuck around the trees. It didn't see me at first and then it thought it would make a quick getaway!
I eat my lunch out there every day now!

Trail Camera 2013

I'm a little late this year!
But the trail camera is out!

Last week I put it back out in the same tree as last year.
No photo's yet, but today I put out an apple scented deer lick.
This might help something stop long enough to get their photo taken.
Hopefully, new photos soon!

A few from the trail camera

It's been a while since I posted any trail camera photos, so here are a few that have been taken since the last trail camera posting

I was having trouble getting out to the trail camera ... tall grass, mosquito's, Poison Ivy not to mention the overgrowth that made it difficult to see what was lurking, so I brought the trail camera back home. I will take it back out after the 1st cut of hay makes walking and visibility better.
In the meantime, I thought I would make use of it around the yard. I was having issues with something in the yard breaking into my shed as well as disappearing baby birds.
I discovered there were 2 raccoons making the rounds in my yard
Note the ratty tail on this one
I believe this is the one that broke into my shed and ate the box of rat poison - he hasn't been back
Mr Ratty Tail has since been captured and released somewhere else. I just hope he doesn't find his way back!

Trail camera - April 1st

With all the nice weather we had, and my mind on gardens and returning to work, I had totally forgotten about the trail camera! Walked out to the camera today with the dog and noticed every bit of feed gone.
Captured a young female deer

And a first for this trail camera...a Turkey!
Better watch it ... someone would LOVE to have you for Easter dinner!

Trail Camera - March 21st

The Weather has been so nice, I have hardly had time to check the trail camera!
No too much activity ... wonder where everything has gone?
These are the only shots this month so far
These daytime close ups are great for detail.
You can see this guy is losing his winter coat

One deer night time shot
And this blurry coyote shot
Who, I might add, we think took the apple lick as it was in the last photo.
Hopefully we will start seeing other animals too!

Trail Camera - February 11th - Daytime shots!

We had a busy few days at the trail camera!
There were 31 new shots, and a few of them were daytime photos.
All of 'our boys' have shed their antlers now, and it's getting hard to tell them apart. It's also getting more difficult to tell if we have the bucks or does in the photos. If the angle is just right, you can see where the antlers used to be attached.
The buck on the left looks older - he looks grey!

I really wish we got more daytime shots. It's nice to be able to see the detail and the difference between them.  The buck on the right looks a little thin, despite the 'easy' winter they have had. There is still a lot of food - apples are still plenty and the corn fields are snow free. They aren't stopped by heavy snow cover this year and are able to travel freely. Not to mention the special treat they get twice a week from a certain someone ;)

Trail Camera - February 4th

There's a turf war going on by the trail camera.
I noticed coyote scat on one visit, and then the dog decided to leave her mark too.
When I went out to the camera again I noticed several fresh piles.
This is coyote mating season and this is the male trying to claim his territory.
Look at this photo of a male coyote, with a pair of glowing eyes in the background.
We also got a few shots of deer

Trail Camera - February 1st

I missed a week, but here are the best of the new trail camera shots.
This one seems to be a newcomer
Our regular boys have shed their antlers now and are getting hard to tell apart.
I think this little one might be the orphan that my neighbor bottle raised. She was always smaller than the rest of them, but sports a full size tail.
This is one of the bucks sans antlers
I think we finally got a shot of two females, but hard to tell.
I found it interesting that the deer knew where to look for food once the snow was on the ground. We only leave a few cups full of feed twice a week and it is scattered over the range of the camera.
The snow has since melted.

Trail Camera - January 25

We finally got a few daylight shots!
Still no shots of the girls, but it appears that our boy are stating to shed their antlers!

We searched all the regular spots and could not find the lost antlers.
Darn it!
